The love affair started just a few months ago in Seattle… I was staying with the Hotel Monaco, a Kimpton Hotel. This was my first time, & after two nights in one of their Suites I was hooked. Kimpton, you had me at “Nightly wine happy hours”. It’s official, I have fallen in love with this brand andthis time, I got to experience one in my own backyard. This time, a Staycation just a few miles away.
Hotel Palomar is the place you want to stay if you’re looking for a genuine Downtown Phoenix experience. Surrounded by antique buildings, fine dining and well known bars, Hotel Palomar will make your weekend getaway the most exciting. It’s not just the location that makes it top notch, but Kimpton’s attention to style and detail that really just put the cherry on top of a great hotel stay. Each room uniquely designed and every employee trained for impeccable service. From check in to check out and everywhere in between, the employees blew me away with their professionalism and hospitality.
If you know me, you know that I studied Tourism Development & Management in College. I was nominated one of the top 5 managers in one of my Management courses, so service is kind of a big deal.
Our king size bed gave us enough room to spread out with our room service in the morning. Greek yogurt and berries, pancakes and a bagel and lox sandwich gave us energy for the day.
A heated pool with views of Downtown Phoenix, a massive soaking tub and well scented toiletries really get me going. Theres something about these simple, yet ideal amenities that really makes a hotel come full circle and Kimpton never disappoints. There should be a saying like “Give a girl a tub and she will move mountains”, am I right?! Or something like that.
If you also know anything about Gauthier or I, you know that we absolutely, positively, LOVE food. We enjoy the best of the best, and Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails did not disappoint. It’s a hidden gem that I think everyone who is local should enjoy. The ambiance and the food bring the experience full circle.
I started with a signature cocktail but Gauthier opted for a glass of Merlot. I found their selection of cocktails to be very exciting. So many options and flavors to choose from. We decided on an order of the deviled eggs to start, and then I ordered the shrimp and grits (Amazing) while Gauthier did a chicken dish.
It’s the experience factor that Kimpton nails right on the head every time. Their attention to detail, design and hospitality makes it more than a hotel but a choice. Every day we can choose to be ordinary or we can choose to stand out. We can choose a basic hotel or we can choose a Kimpton brand. At the end of the day, the choice is yours. If it were up to me though, I would choose Kimpton every time.
